Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC)

Also known as the morning after pill or emergency contraceptive pill.

Perhaps you are on the Pill and forgot to take it? Maybe you have been sick and you’re wondering if the Pill will still work?

If you think you may need emergency contraception it’s important to act quickly – within hours rather than days. The pill must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex, but works best within 48 hours. According to WHO it prevents 95% of pregnancies if taken within 24 hours, 85% between 25 and 48 hours, and 58% between 49 and 72 hours after sexual intercourse.

This service is FREE to all women under 25 years of age at Eastcote Pharmacy.

You will have a consultation with a pharmacist who will undergo a short set of questions to confirm this medication is suitable for you and also offer relevant advice and information. Following this, a supply will be made to you providing you have met our eligibility criteria.
